I’ve been using Plex server for years without issues. Lately, I was having issues with Plex scanning and finding files, so I deleted and re-installed. Yeah, big mistake. Now I can’t add squat. I can go to “Add Libraries”, click on movies (or whatever), and when I go to browse for media data, the only folder that will show up on for the external harddrives are the names…if won’t drill down to other folders. Can’t even write them in (correctly). And if I just use the drive name, it doesn’t find any deals. AS I said, been using it flawlessly for years…now this. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Are you running Catalina? If so, ensure that Plex Media Server has access to removable volumes in Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Privacy:

Though, it should have asked for this permission when first trying to access a removable volume.
I tell ya…I found another thread with this info about 10 minutes after writing my topic. Sorry for not deleting, but thank you for responding!!
No worries, glad you found it.
I have checked this and mine shows Network Volumes, not Removable Volumes, and i do not have any libraries in my server or find a way to add them.
This article describes how to add libraries to PMS:
Your first select a library type, then add the folders where media of a certain type lives (Movies, TV Shows, et al…). There are also some advanced settings for controlling certain other aspects of the library’s behavior, such as the agent it uses for matching.
When you select an external drive or network volume as a media folder, macOS should ask you to grant PMS permission to access that location.
got that, but when i launch the web app and click on settings, there is no manage section to select libraries. ???
I’d recommend starting a new thread and describing in detail what you’re (not?) seeing, as this thread’s issue and yours are different. You’ll likely get more attention than in this thread, which is already marked as resolved.
copy thank you
