Can't add or delete movies from library even with "the PLEX dance."

I can no longer add or delete movies from my PLEX server on my MAC running Catalina. I have tried the PLEX dance and have made sure the names follow conventions. It’s amazing how flexible PLEX is about naming conventions, but my new additions are conforming to the rules.

This is very frustrating and I appreciate any help you can give me.

In Catalina and beyond afaik you need to give the server access to filesystem depending on where things are stored. https://nektony.com/duplicate-finder-free/folders-permission

Here is an example for storage on external drives. As Big Wheel implied from Catalina on Security and Privacy have been ramped up for user safety.

I opened system preferences and was able to give Plex “Full Disk Access” (It’s now the only app in the list, there were none before I did this) and when I click “Files and Folders” Plex is there (still showing “full Disk Access”) but there are no options for removable volumes (which is where my Plex libraries are located). Sorry if I’m being dense. Plex never asked for any permissions. Tried scanning my libraries again and Plex still shows movies whose files have been deleted and does not show the recently added movies. Thanks again for your help and BigWheel’s as well!!!

Sorry I don’t actually have Catalina myself, still on Mojave. Not sure if there are any quirks with that setting. @SE56 may know more

Try your smallest Library and re link the path. Also right click/ info your Drives Icon and make sure it has read and write Permissions.

Sorry about the delay…Thanksgiving holiday stuff. Okay, I deleted the paths to my folders, then reset them, right clicked on the drives to make sure everyone has permissions to read and write to the drives. I have quit and restarted Plex. Nothing is working. Movies I deleted from the library still show up in Plex, I tried deleting IN Plex, but it tells me there is a problem, new movies I’ve added do not show up. I am SO frustrated!! Would deleting the app and starting all over help?

I’m sorry to say it looks like something serious is going on with your setup.

If your Naming correctly, they should become visible. Unfortunately that does not explain you can not delete. Unless

With all you have done I would Uninstall Plex and start again, use the default Scanners as they are far faster.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out here. I really appreciate it. One more interesting little quirk. If I already have episoded of a TV series in my library, I can add new episodes, but if I try to add a new series, Plex scans the library when I add it, but then it doesn’t show up.
