Cannot claim fresh install of plex media server, on headless rockylinux

I just rerolled my Proxmox server, downloaded the Rocky Linux container template, and got the container up and running as expected.

I downloaded and installed Plex.

plex starts and runs

i access its IP address, 10.10.15.51:32400/web
login, and get a “not authorized” error

I check the preferences file it’s mostly empty (can spill its contents here if you want)

I tried the ol’ SSH tunnel trick of

ssh -L 8888:127.0.0.1:32400 10.10.15.51

That doesn’t work - I get site cannot be reached 127.0.0.1 refused to connect

I can open a fresh web browser (cleared cookies) and attempt to log in, always getting the “not authorized” error after logging in.

Any ideas for me to try would be welcome.

tried the ssh tunnel again, this time i finished the login, (in the past only starting the window was enough)

i can access the wui

working, YAY!
this was 100% user error, not sure how to close / mark solved/ delete this
