New install: Not authorized - You do not have access to this server

I have just installed plexmediaserver_1.30.1.6497-5fc2e0894_amd64.deb on an updated Ubuntu 20.04. Connecting to http://10.x.x.x:32400/web gives me this:

“This application is at 10.x.x.x and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognize this server and wish to grant access.”

Logging on using my plex account throws this message:

“Not authorized
You do not have access to this server”

My laptop is connected to the same network as the plex server.
I have removed plex. Deleted config files. Reinstalled. Same error.
No firewall running on plex server.

I am stuck.

I would try Server credential reset utility for Linux-based platforms which will allow you to reclaim the server.

The server is new. Fresh install. There are no lost credentials.

the server claim process is the same either way. You could post your server logs and see if they highlight any other issues (such as DNS) but I think your primary issue is that the server needs claimed.
