I’m installing this on windows server 2008 R2 and I have the “Desktop Experience” installed. It looks like I’m just missing a program or whatever the log is referring to, any idea where I can get whatever it is I am missing?

Even though 2008 R2 is based on Windows 7, it looks like the detection routine thinks you are running 2008 (Vista kernel). Just making sure that you are positive you are running R2 and not 2008?

Is there an easy way to upgrade? Or do I have to purchase a new windows server 2008 R2?

You can upgrade from 2008 to 2008 R2, which requires you to purchase whatever version you need. There is no free upgrade to R2. Is there any particular reason you are running a server OS - is it a requirement?

I just have a server that was given to me for free and I am currently running plex on a virtual machine, which is working fine, I just wanted to free up some system resources and just have it run on the server without a VM

Might as well keep it in the VM since it’s working. This way you don’t have to buy a new license for another server OS.

Yeah, thanks anyways
