Cannot find Media Server on Synology

Following these steps:

  1. From your home LAN
  2. Open a browser to: http://ip.addr.of.synology:32400/web
  3. You will be greated by “Got It” (We found a server)

I do not get “Got It” - but it does connect to plex using the local NAS IP address listed. Device no longer shows up as connected or authorized devices. No idea how to fix… ideas?

At step 6 - I just login to plex (connected to IP of NAS:32400) and it doesn’t say to “claim” anything. If I click on +MORE I see a “YOUR MEDIA” and it just takes me to a page that says “Get Plex Media Server”. The NAS Doesn’t show up on authorized devices either.

Just a note: The thing that broke this was a change in router. New router new IP addresses.

Still not working - followed your steps exactly.

It seems I have gotten furhter - on step 7 it goes to the point of “claiming the server” but seems to fail with an error (which it doesn’t explain). I tried to “claim the server” but it just fails now. Progress!! but not quite enough  Uploaded logs as per advice. Thanks for support - seems to be going in the right direction just I still have something wrong…

Ahuh! you got it! So I checked the Network settings on the synology after you mentioned this. As I mentioned I changed the router (which changed IP address range used). I think I had an issue with DNS on the synology in the past and had manually set the DNS Server to 10,0.0.1 (my router). Router is now 192.168.50.1 … So now claimed and sorted out!! Thanks very much for the help diagnosing this one. Great to get Plex back online!!

I follow the steps in your second post that includes renaming the Preferences.xml file. This allowed me to see my server again. But when I try to ‘claim the server’ the process does not complete. I am puzzled what has changed. I have not made any changes that I am aware of. I have attached a copy of the logs for some assistance.

Thanks in advance for assistance.

@trumpy81, thanks for the quick reply. I did a router reboot and still have the problem.

I am using a Nighthawk R6900v2 router. I was not having these issues a week or two ago. Not sure what changed in my router setup :(.

Any suggestions of what to check or test to run?

Thanks

@trumpy81,
I did a little more digging, I had a DNS issue so I did a manual DNS setup to the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 as shown in the attached image.

Not sure if I need to keep my DNS setup manually, I will do some further digging.

Thanks
