I’m a developer and dad who wanted to hand my daughter the iPad without her getting lost in Plex’s UI. She navigates YouTube Kids fine — big pictures, tap to play — but Plex’s menus were totally beyond her. I already had managed users and rating filters set up, so the content was handled. It was purely a UI problem.
So I built Canopy. It’s a native iOS app that connects to your existing Plex server and gives kids a dead-simple interface — just big posters, tap to watch. It respects your managed user restrictions so you don’t have to re-configure anything. I’ll have an Apple TV version of the app ready later this week.
What it has:
• Big, tappable poster grid — no menus to get lost in
• Respects your existing Plex managed users and content ratings
• PIN-gated parental controls so kids can’t escape to settings
• Screen time limits
