Can't claim Plex Media Server

Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS

Server Version#: plexmediaserver_1.16.3.1433-359b06978_amd64.deb
Player Version#: Using web UI

This has happened before: Can't Claim Plex Server on Ubuntu 18.04.1

I tried following the same steps that resolved this last time but it didn’t not fix the problem

Thank you!

Just a basic check? ls -la “/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server” ? Make certain all is owned by plex:plex ?

Server is local or remote ?
VM ?

Local server on my home network hard wired Ethernet, accessing from my laptop on the same network on WiFi. It’s a bare metal Linux install not a VM

Is the WiFi on the same subnet?
Does the WiFi have “Wireless Isolation” mode enabled (blocks seeing the physical LAN (vlan 1) ) ?

Yes, same subnet. My Plex server is 192.168.1.145 and my laptop is 192.168.1.26. I can access the Plex Media Server from my laptop just fine at http://192.168.1.145:32400/web in my browser. I can also SSH from my laptop to the Plex server for command-line access. I don’t have Wireless Isolation enabled on my router.

@ChuckPa - any ideas? Do you need more information to diagnose the problem?

Sorry i missed coming back.

Can you plug the laptop into the lan itself and be wired for a few minutes?

Doing so would remove WiFi isolation from the equation.

Next,

  1. Sign the browser out of plex.tv (upper right)
  2. in the server itself, stop plex, delete Preferences.xml, and restart (on the bare machine)
  3. Now, on the laptop - incognito window, http://ip.addr.of.server:32400/web

if that fails to respond then i am utterly clueless

If it loads the web client, we know it’s alive.
Stop it and grab me a zip of the Logs directory

No problem. I’ll try wired and report back.

I gave it another try, but wasn’t able to cable in because I don’t have a USB-C ethernet dongle. I ordered one, but it will be a few days before it arrives. I did follow the rest of the instructions and the logs are attached. Still not claiming :frowning:

It thinks it has a route to Plex.tv but is not getting a reply.

Something in the WiFi routing but not clear to me what.
This is what I hope to find out with the laptop on the physical LAN. Hopefully isolate it to the WiFi
