This has been a problem for a while on multiple Apple TVs:
When pausing a video to view a video’s timeline and controls, it’s impossible to exit back to the video. Pressing the ‘menu’ button to exit the video timeline and controls overlay doesn’t work properly. Instead of hiding the video controls, Plex instead exits the entire video completely.
This happens with both old and new video player.
This is contrary to Apple’s video player patterns and is super annoying, as well.
Is it just me having this problem?
tvOS 16.5 on both 2015 Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K 2nd gen
To replicate
- Pause the video. Video controls and timeline appears.
- Press Menu button to exit the video.
What happens:
- Video closes out and returns to Plex’s detailed listing screen for this video (the one with the play button, actors, etc.)
Expectation:
- Video controls should be hidden but still with video on-screen
Workaround:
- Pressing the center button hides the video UI.
