Never had any major issues with plex and apple tv but today got home from work come to watch something and I think apple just updated the plex app and now if I try to watch something im getting this message can’t reach server so I’ve updated the app on another apple tv and now that’s doing the same thing
Try to change the DNS servers on the ATV under the main network settings to 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1 or 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4.
If your router allows you to change them there, I would suggest changing them there as well so all devices on your network use those vs your ISP default DNS. It’s likely this is related to DNS rebind protection, so if your router/network setup allows you to add an exception for plex.direct, you can do that as well.
DNS setting changes didn’t work for me. Tried all of the recommended public DNS server addresses. Still getting the error “Can’t reach Server”. Anyone else find a fix? It’s working on some of my ATVs, I think because the Plex app hasn’t updated on them.
Changing the Apple TV’s DNS server from automatic to manual (I used 9.9.9.10), resetting the Plex app cache (profile icon > settings > advanced), and “Restarting” the Apple TV through the Apple TV settings app fixed this issue for me.
