Can't start PMS

Thanks. I’ve uninstalled, downloaded the last version and reinstalled without altering anything.
The service still refuses to run properly.
The only way I’ve found so far is to run the manual script from a terminal

nohup ./start-pms.sh

Please do the following:

  1. Remove your customizations from /etc/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service.d/override.conf (Delete the file)
  2. Uninstall the package
  3. Reboot the system
  4. Reinstall the package
  5. If it fails to start, capture Preferences.xml, I would like to see it.
  6. Manually capture, as tar.gz the Logs directory

Done points 1 to 4
The service still fails to start
Done points 5 to 6, how can I push the files to you?

DM sent.

I had to rename preferences.xml into preferences.jpg

logs.tar.gz (445 KB)

These logs are from last evening (your time).
Everything appears to be running.
How did you start PMS to obtain this?

I’ve finally found something interesting.

There are 2 different spins of fedora server: DVD and netinstall
https://getfedora.org/server/download/

  • Installed fedora in a vm with the DVD edition, everything works fine.
  • reinstalled fedora with the DVD edition on my NAS, everything works fine now.

The PMS service won’t run on a fedora if installed with netinstall spin.

Very interesting.

For clarification so I may reproduce,

  1. Net-install Fedora 28 Server in VM
  2. Install PMS
  3. Observe failure.

Is this correct?

That’s correct, for 28 and 29 netinstall versions of fedora

  1. install on a fresh VM
  2. dnf update
  3. install PMS with the latest package available
  4. the service fails to start

I cannot reproduce. Started right up without issue

PMS 1.15.4.919
Fedora 29 netinstall
