Capturing Plex screen in Discord results in flickering black screen

Server Version#: 1.25.8.5663
Player Version#: 1.42.1.2926-415b0e14

Odd behavior that started last night for one my users. When sharing the Plex app over Discord, when the mouse is at rest while plex app is in focus or transfer focus to another app the screen goes black for the screen capture. Also, going full screen, or even maximizing the app (but not full screen) compared to a non-maximized window. I can’t say for sure when they updated the app, but I definitely updated the server last night about the time the issues started. Turning off hardware acceleration in Discord (both in the Advanced settings section and the Voice & Video section) did not seem to help. Turning off Latest Technology setting in Discord also did not help. Also confirmed the user has the latest Nvidia driver. Any ideas?

Having the exact same issue after the latest Plex Desktop update (worked fine less than a week ago); makes me wonder if Plex implemented a Netflix style anti-sharing block.

Same issue here, it seems that as long as Plex is being updated (scrolling, clicking on something) it’s fine, but not interacting for about 5 seconds will go full gray.

Same, yo!

Also having this issue, but noticed it doesn’t seem to occur when the Plex window matches the native size of the video or after resizing the window, super strange. Basically seems like the closer I get to native resolution in the window size the less the issue presents itself.

The Plex UI and Audio still show up just fine in the stream, however.

I am assuming “Restructured video rendering in a sub window/view to remove from Qt’s rendering” is causing this? Probably because Discord tries to grab the “video stream” kinda like it does with VLC player. Either way, this update made the app feel really sluggish and more of a downgrade.

As a temporary fix: You can revert to the previous version. Here’s the download.
You probably want to (temporarily) disable auto updates too: open “%localappdata%/Plex/plex.ini” → add “disableUpdater=true” under “[debug]”

Anyone know if this has been fixed yet?

Doesn’t seem like there’s been a new release for about two weeks now.

Version 1.43.2 was released and still an issue for me

Sadly this problem is still active.

Not sure what exactly changed, but I just installed 1.44.0 and it looks to be working again so far.

This looks to have broken (or gotten worse) again in 1.48.2.

I will admit in versions 1.44.0 to 1.48.2 the issue didn’t exist when content was playing, but the moment content was paused the screen blacked out again.
