No known issues, just checked with support.
Ok, thanks @elan. If the issue is not an issue with the Certificate Servers, could you please see whether support can answer why we are seeing the following error in the Plex logs? Also why other posts on this forum today seem to indicate similar issues with Secure Connections not working as expected?
Many thanks!
Andā¦I take it back, weāve identified the issue and are working on resolving it (and making sure it doesnāt happen in the future).
Great thanks!
Looks like there was an issue that could prevent a new cert being issued to a server. A fix is in the process of going out. If you donāt get a cert with a restart of your Plex Media Server right now, try again in a couple of hours and you should be good. Apologies for the trouble!
Thank you!
EDIT:
Can confirm that itās working now.

All working now after the fix! Thanks for sorting this out!
Is this really fixed? as soon as i turn off required for ssl it stops working.
Worked fine this morning (my timezone)
What stops working? If you are disabling Secure Connections make sure however youāre trying to connect after the fact is not a secure method.
i cant play anything if secure is enabled.
only web player works with secure enabled.
This issue was fixed yesterday, but appears to be happening again:
Nov 09, 2018 00:53:58.444 [0x7f6d4e7fe700] ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 503
This is for a new PMS I just installed. Iāve restarted the service a couple times. Same error each time in the logs.
The problem is partially fixed for me. My Linux pms got the new certificate but my NVIDIA shield TV pms cannot get new one. So I canāt access NVIDIA shield TV securely.
Hi @elan,
This seems to be happening again today? Are there issues with the Cert Servers?
I rebuilt second Plex server (running on the same network as the first) and seeing the same following error - The second Plex Serer is again not accessible via plex.tv but is showing as online and Remote Access working via localhost:32400/webā¦
ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 503
I also seem to ge getting lots of the following types of error so assume this is related?
WARN - PubSub: Received notifyConnectivity event with incorrect async identifier (<ID 1>, expected <ID 2>)
Thanks!
Iāve asked the team and will let you know!
Any update by chance? I moved a server and am seeing the same āCould not fetch certificate from the cloud: 503ā so I have to leave secure connections set to preferred.
Thanks!
Iām yelling at the appropriate people to make sure we get this fixed for good, Iām really sorry about the issue.
Ah, so thatās why Iām now bald from tearing my hair out all day!
Thought it was something wrong with my migration, but noticed it was the same for a complete fresh instance.
Thanks for the update!
Just want to note that Iām having these (or at least similar) troubles. I am experimenting with a brand new shield tv and different external storage medium performance for the app data / dvr area. I swapped out a usb3 drive for a proper usb3 ssd and went to re-setup plex. The plex server maintained itās settings (strangely) and booted on up (with the same name I might add) but was recognized as āunclaimedā which I then āclaimedā and it has apparently lost itās cert and Iām unable to get a new one thus far. Iād like to confirm via log files the error messages⦠can anyone tell me which of the log files should contain the cert grabbing messages?
nevermind⦠found it:
Nov 24, 2018 22:21:36.986 [31561] ERROR - CERT: Could not fetch certificate from the cloud: 503
Today I logged on and my shield (second server) seems to have received itās new cert. Yay. Not sure if it was a matter of time or it was fixed on Plexās end but thanks all the same.
