This is a really must have. So a +1 from me too
Itâs been 5 years, clearly Plex doesnât care that much. I work for a software company. People gripe all the time about features we should have. Shoot, even I gripe to management about features we should have if we claim to be innovative, although nothing is this bad. I think Plex is clearly showing us that we if care that much we would leave, if not deal with it.
Btw, Iâm +1 on this for whenever the feature comes out. Until then, I will continue to be baffled that they didnât have this in 2014, still donât have it, and cannot even respond in a thread with tons of people on it.
+1 !!!
Come on plex, this is a simple feature, why not respond to community and implement this. This is a long overdue feature for plex player.

Not sure I understand how the Plex development team sets priorities ⊠with no one listening to this thread. Marketing? Nah, who would want those guys involved âŠ
Iâm adding my voice to this as well - really need to have a customizable time setting. The Default is way to fast for me.
5 years later, and they are collecting good money from subscribers⊠what the heck? This is a simple upgrade. Also no way to show exif data on slideshows?
I like the product, but we should all bolt if something better comes alongâŠ
+++1 on this request. Long overdue and such a simple feature to add.

Like everyone else I cannot fathom (a) why having the option to vary the playback speed wasnât there from the start, and (b) why no one from Plex can be bothered to even comment. There is a big difference between not doing something because of a technical barrier and not doing it because you canât be bothered. At least give us the courtesy of an explanation. Many of us are contributing to Plex development via our passes.
so annoying, pls change this. Cant use Plex like thisâŠ
so where the heck is Plex representation? They do take my money each month⊠Itâs FIVE YEARS since this request!!!
Dear Plex programmers,
Adding a general variable to specify the time (seconds) for a slide show requires 1 line of code.
Reading that variable every time when a slide show starts requires another line of code.
So, for a basic improvement two lines of code are necessary (okay, youâll need something more to define it as an input value in a user interface)
Adding more features like âarrow up = + 1 sec, arrow down = - 1 secâ and store the last delay value in a variable for every single mediathek will make it a bit more complexâŠ
Nonetheless, itâs no big deal
So PLEASE get it done!
I have searched through these forums about randomizing photos and changing display time. This is something that people have been asking for, for 6+ years. I do not know how the developers of Plex can ignore something for over 6 years.
I have been using Plex and it works well but I will not support a company that ignores paying and non paying customers, especially for years and years. Terrible!
I am moving away from Plex and since I also setup and manage immediate family setups which is 6 families, Plex is now losing a total of 7 subscribers over such a simple thing.
Maybe we can stimulate Plex by discussing the best alternatives to migrate all Plex users away, i.e. hit Plex in the pocketbook.
I do enjoy having the app on my TV, so is there an app on Samsung TVs for an alternative?
Greg
I join my voice to the thread: @Plex please add this slideshow speed setting! Itâs unbelievable that such a simple setting doesnât exist after so may requests on this forum and so many years!!! Like said someone else, shame on you @Plex
I canât even get most photos to display because they are too high quality to load in 5 seconds.
Why on earth canât I specify a longer slideshow time???
Itâs insane that this hasnât been addressed in 6 yearsâŠ
Yah, theyâre never going to do this. Quite frankly, Plex is basically the Apple version of Kodi - Easy to use, but far more limited.
By the same token, Kodi is the Android version of Plex. Far more functional, with tons of features and tweaks, but requiring a lot more User learning and effort for even seemingly simple things. The only thing Plex does that Kodi doesnât is sync between players - which is a heck of a huge feature, and is basically the only reason I stick with Plex over Kodi.
Apparently, like many companies, Plex started out good, but is now getting bloated and has lost connection with itâs usersâ desires. Itâs adding âfeaturesâ that nobody really wants with the dream of making megabucks by charging users ever more money per âfeatureâ.
If history is any indication, software development expertise improvements will have another competitor showing up soon with Plexâs original intentions in mind, who will do it better, faster, and more user-oriented, and walk away with a huge portion of Plexâs user base - though a certain amount will stay behind. Plex will end up being bought out by some mega corp and folded into some other âpackageâ deal, and in a few years will be a scarce remnant of their former selves. So went Norton, McAfee, Giant (now Windows Defender), and many others.
So thereâs no sense getting annoyed. Just wait it out. In 10 years, nobody will remember Plex, and weâll all be using something much better.
This Docker version of Plex allows you to change the web slideshow speed:
