Change Plex DL location via windows?

My C drive had 250gb total as a boot drive so i am trying to DL to my D drive

I followed the instructions from another post:

Delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\Plex Media Server\Sync

Create your E:\Downloads folder

mklink /D “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\Plex Media Server\Sync” “E:\Downloads”

CMD said the link worked but plex wont DL the file at all, i tried closing and opening again multiple times, deleting the movie and re DL it

I pasted command into CMD again and it said: Cannot create a file when that file already exists

How can i proceed?

Thanks

I just tried this and it works for me. What type of drive is E?

Edit - Also, are you trying to use E or D? Your first sentence says D, but the command you have is E.

Ahh yea i just copied the instructions from that post, but for me its D

C and E are the same drive, a Samsung 980 Pro, i just partitioned them

Ok. Check the link properties tab from file explorer for the link you made and make sure it is pointing to the correct place. Also check the general property for the link and for the target and make sure they are not set to read-only.

Partitioning an SSD drive doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.

Make sure that E: uses thre NTFS file system as well.

So before i made this post i was trying different things, and i deleted the new location that i made
When i try to DL something plex says no writ e access

I removed plex, rebooted and reloaded plex and it still has the same issue
The sync folder in appdata was not remade

So both the old and new location do not exist anymore, how should i proceed?

The folder is not made until you Download something, so you need to make at least 1 Download with the new install of the app. Pick something small. Once this works

  • move the folder to the new location
  • rename the folder to what you want
  • create the sym link

Try playing what you downloaded before. If it plays, then it worked. You can delete this and then download what you actually want.

I used revo to totally remove plex and rebooted, tried the command again and now it is working fine with the new location
