Changed hard drives. Can I transfer metadata?

I had been having problems with my Mac hard drive which was not letting me boot up. Apparently the hard drive was “locked”.

I have since been able to access the drive as a secondary via USB caddy. I have managed to transfer over the movies/music that I had which was 1000’s to a new drive which has a new copy of operating system and Plex program installed.

Is there a way I can drag the metadata file/folder of the movies/music instead of auto adding media to Plex where it’ll scan which would take ages and then got the painstaking tasks of sorting the incorrect scanned. ??

Yes.

It’s the same process as moving plex to a new computer.

My other problem is that I’ve changed the locations of where the music/movies are located to different drives.

Will that cause a problem ?

possibly, but if you follow the link instructions carefully, it should be ok.

you should make sure you keep a separate backup copy of the plex database folder, just in case things go south.

the database is the most important part, everything else can be reinstalled/refreshed/redownloaded.
