Howdy all…I need to change a local drive letter on my windows 11 Plex Media Server…
NO new drive or media being copied…i only need to re-assign the drive letter that several media libraries are currently using.
So if I re-assign drive letter in windows disk mgmt…Plex should think data is missing…and then if I go into each library and update to the new drive letter(everything else same since data did NOT physically move)…
*** Will Plex update the media locations or think its all new media?
Many thanks for this…but the update statements dont reference a drive letter…just the path, which in my case will stay the same. or am I missing something?
For example…the change in my library would be:
AS-IS: D:\4kMovies
TO-BE: R:\4kMovies
How would I tweak the below statements to update the db?
UPDATE section_locations
SET root_path= replace(root_path, ‘/Users/jelwell/Shared’, ‘/Volumes/Movies’)
where root_path like ‘%/Users/jelwell/Shared%’
Take a look at your database. It will contain drive letters as part of the folder path.
The post I linked to is using a UNIX based server OS, where drive letters are not a thing. But the basic principle of the procedure stays the same across all operating systems.
