Currently Plex Media Server (PMS) automatically chooses which device to use when using hardware acceleration. I am requesting a feature where the user selects which device is allowed to be used for hardware acceleration. This is necessary for users who have both devices in their system and want to dedicate a device for transcoding.
For example, I have a Windows 10 for HTPC and PMS. It has an Intel 10400 CPU and an Nvidia GTX 1060 GPU. When hardware acceleration and hardware encoding are enabled, PMS will always try to use the GPU. I want to be able to select which device PMS uses for decoding/encoding to better utilize the resources available in the system. In this case, Intel’s UHD 630 QSV.
Similar implementations exists on Steam remoteplay, OBS, Handbrake, and Emby.
