Choosing PMS hardware

Hi all, I’ve been running PMS for Windows on an Intel NUC i7 (NUC6i7KYB) for about 5 years and have been pretty happy with it. The main issue I have with it is it’s cooling ability. In a warm summer, when PMS’ CPU is working hard (eg transcode or even overnight maintenance) it tends to execute a thermal shutdown.

Seeking views on the best hardware for small form factor PCs to use for a dedicated Windows PMS, max 2-3 concurrent users on the local WiFi network - with better cooling capability.

Thanks

It might just be that you need to do some basic maintenance. Blow it out with compressed air (I use my air compressor) and perhaps reapply some thermal paste on the cpu. Shoot, you may be able to upgrade the cooling fan. All three could save you a ton of time, effort, and headache in moving to a new machine.

Thanks. but if I was looking to upgrade a 5 year old machine anyway? Anyone have experience here?

Here is where I detailed my thoughts. But if you have experience with a NUC, I would probably go that route.
