Choosing the correct streaming device

Hello everyone,

I hope my first topic here is on the right sub forum! I’m very new to plex so there is a lot of things I don’t know…

I decided to buy new soundbar with Dolby Atmos support and now I’m wondering what straming devide to choose so I will be able to enjoy Atmos…
I found that the plex client for the Nvidia Shield TV Pro supports Atmos passthrough but what about the no pro version. What about Xbox? Amazon fier stick?
Let me rephrase - if the streaming devce supports Atmos is that mean that i will have Atmos via Plex with it or there is somthing else - the Plex client itself has to support dolby atmos also?

Thanks!

Have been using Roku as a client for a couple of years and cannot fault it – don’t have a soundbar with atmos support but there premiere module (which I have) might be worth a look https://www.roku.com/en-gb/products/roku-premiere

All Shield versions, young and old, Pro and non-pro support Dolby Atmos.

The Amazon devices (and also the Apple TV I guess) only support “lossy” Atmos, which is supplied by Netflix and Apple e.g. These devices won’t play Atmos tracks from Bluray if I am not mistaken.
