I have Plex server :
-on a laptop windows with Nvidia GTX 1060 + Intel HD graphics 530, 5 gigabit ethernet via usb wavelink adapter
-inside docker with RTX 3070 : linux mint proxmox vm with GPU passthrough , 10 gigabit ethernet
Both serve the same media shared via truenas proxmox vm with zfs raid 5.
Both access local French TV via HDHomerunConectDuo (cable TNT > ethernet > lan).
I encounter a problem with French TF1 channel (and all other channels) served via HDHomerunConectDuo :
-it plays well via laptop windows plex server
-it is choppy (pauses every second for a second) via docker plex server
Both servers play 4k hdr videos well with and without transcoding on the lan and on the internet.
They have all same server settings.
Transcoding/cache folder is local for both servers, reading/writing on local nvme disks.
When it comes to HDHomerunConectDuo to watch TV, it works well with the windows server, and it is very choppy on the docker server.
I would like to eliminate windows server on laptop and only use docker server because it has 10 gigabit ethernet and RTX 3070, and also not to have to update libraries on two servers. But for now i have to keep both servers because of the TV choppyness.
HDHomerunConectDuo works well on all my LAN devices,
but is choppy with docker plex server.
Choppy Live TV happens on all LAN and WEB devices (windows, web browsers, plex player, apple devices) when i watch TV from the docker server.
Also while testing i noticed a bug with iphone :
-if i close plex app via swipe without stopping playing video first, server continue to keep transcode session when plex client app on iphone is closed (iphone SE MMXJ3ZD/A, ios 18.3)
Jellyfin docker test :
I tested HDHomerunConectDuo with Jellyfin installed inside the same docker server as plex.
I have no problem with playing live tv using HDHomerunConectDuo with docker jellyfin.
So it looks like the problem is with docker plex.
Apple tv 4k :
On apple tv 4k, it does not transcode, it direct plays, live tv is not choppy, so looks like the problem is related to transcoding.
Please help to solve docker plex choppy live tv
