chromecast and Optimized Versions

Is there a way to select a setting specifically for the chromecast? As there are always a lot of issues due to the transcoding bing started it would be great to have some settings in the optimize mune specifically for chromecast.

things that need to be set:
720p or 1090p (4or 8mbps)
MKV/h264 for video
AAC for Audio
AND
webVTT for subtitles

Specifically the audio and subs are important for me, as they require continous transcoding. would be great if we can get those in the selection of optimize.

I am also very interested in a response to this.

Have you checked chromecast.xml in C:\Program Files (x86)\Plex\Plex Media Server\Resources\Profiles (on windows)? Not exactly user friendly but ought to give possibilities to adjust multiple parameters. Check the current file and other profiles in the same directory for examples.

Sure would be nice to have a Chomecast template for say 4mbit 720p and 8mbit 1080p. That would make it a whole lot easier to manage

+1, missing the option to convert audio to AAC in Optimized Versions.

ANybody able in the mean time to provide some info on this?

anybody have been able to do this in the mean time?

I use the “Optimized Version” functionality in Plex. Userdefined Profile for Android and 2Mbps 720p quality setting.

Still no Chromecast specific version available? Specifically also the conversion to supported subtitles as that is the main reason my system start to convert…

+1 How is this not in there yet??

sub-zero (can be added as a channel within plex) now has the ability to add VTT subs, which I believe are supported by chromecast

Anyone found a good answer for this topic?

Yes, switch to Emby which has better optimization for Chromecast, especially HDR content with Utlra.
