Hello Plex Team,
I have a persistent Chromecast problem with Plex on Windows.
Problem description:
- Chromecast is detected correctly by Windows and Plex.
- The movie starts normally on the Chromecast.
- Immediately after playback starts, Plex loses control of the Chromecast session.
- I cannot pause, stop, seek or control playback anymore.
- The only way to stop playback is disconnecting Chromecast manually.
Important information:
- Chromecast itself works correctly.
- Plex mobile app works better.
- Windows detects the Chromecast devices correctly.
- The issue mainly happens with Plex Web / Plex for Windows.
- Other streaming apps sometimes show similar Chromecast control issues too.
What I already tested:
- Different browsers
- Plex Web and Plex for Windows
- Restarting Chromecast and Plex Server
- Local network discovery enabled
- Secure connections set to “Preferred”
- Different network settings
- Direct local access and app.plex.tv access
The stream itself works, but the Chromecast control session disconnects immediately after playback starts.
Could you please check if this is a known issue with current Plex Windows/Web versions and Chromecast?
