Keeping the thread alive – Just set up my dad with plex and his chromecast is seeing this same issue.
I just got this error after changing the audio settings on the chromecast from auto detect to something else. After reverting to auto detect, playback was flawless once more.
Open the Google home app, select the chromecast device, go to settings, then audio. Make sure you have auto detect selected.
Hope this works for you.
Having this issue intermittently when casting from Plex for Android to a Chromecast, with both H2G2-42 and GA00439. Only killing the app on the CC and on my phone fixes it.
Mine is on “auto detect” and I still have this issue.
My Brother is getting the same “error code h4” on his Chromecast when viewing AAC2.0 and x264 content.
Having this same issue but only with live TV (tuner). I just setup my tuner today and I cannot watch live TV via Chromecast.
Dayum son…
I haven’t had the problem since…
Maybe try increasing the ‘Limit remote stream bitrate’ under Remote Access settings, or burning in subtitles if you use them…
