I’ve tested this issue on two Chromecasts on my LAN with restarts and resets.
When I play a TV show on h265; the episode I select appears on screen, then it skips to the next episode, then the next ad infinitum. I found that this can be caused by the device’s profile in Plex files. I tried adding lines to the Chromecast.xml and nothing changed. Eventually I looked in the log files and found that the Chromecast appeared as device Chromecast (Chromecast), but the next line would always assign profile Generic.xml.
I found online that removing the Generic.xml file can help, so I renamed it temporarily to test, and it worked with some buffering. Then I found that smart TVs no longer worked since they relied on the Generic.xml file, so I restored it, and of course the Chromecast returned to using the Generic.xml profile.
How can I force the Chromecast to use the correct profile?
