i also think this would be a great feature. i use plex for remote use, but in my home i use kodi with cinemavision. i mainly watch movies in my theater room and have it play a trailer and the audio bumper. It could utilize the tag feature and run pre-rolls based on Studios. Audio format, ratings, etc…
i would love to try and develop a plugin but i’m not sure if a plugin can access the needed code
fyi for anyone reading this - plex only has trailers and a fixed preroll. cinemavision allows for a fully customized experience for viewing. you can have custom pre-rolls for just about anything,
example i have a bunch of Scream Factory movies and i have cinemavision play the scream factory bumper for those. this is autoplayed off a screamfactory tag i placed on the movies
you can run multiple trailers, trivia, ratings bumpers, and more. a truly customizable cinema experience
I have a load of trailers, the intemission videos, sound (dolby/dts/atmos videos) and feature film trailers. I loved CinemaVision for Kodi and wanted the same. I use the Plex movie trailers and pre-show movie but i live the idea of more than one, and randomising it or picking the right pre-film stuff for the movie type. Great idea!!
I would love to have CinemaVision implemented to Plex.
I used to use Kodi but have switched to Plex, but the only thing I truly miss is CinemaVision. I love hosting movie nights that involve the whole movie going experience of vintage trailers, ads and bumpers and right now, I can’t do this with the trailers feature available on Plex.
Adding CinemaVision would be a HUGE deal.
I’d love to see something like this - the Sci-Fi channel used genre-specific pre-roll bumpers, and I’d love to be able to set something up to incorporate those bumpers into my Plex Server (and similar sorts of implementations).

Adding cinemavision would be the best feature plex could ever offer. Certainly worth more than the recent discover mess feature.

Since CinemaVision’s development is dead, there is a successor to it called PreShow Experience. They went live about a week ago and the UI is pretty much identical. Here’s their website: https://preshowexperience.com/
Plex, I beg of you to work with their developers to implement this incredible project. It truly makes you feel like you’re in the theater.
Since they are just starting up it will be perfect for you to work with them to make the implementation easy! I’d even be willing to pay a few dollars for it!
