And switching to host networking in Docker helped, but it would still occasionally use the external IP. Now with the new client app, it’s happening more often.
What’s your network setup like? Do you run a pihole or any specialized network apps/equipment?
Could be DNS Rebind Protection blocking the plex.direct url resolving to the server ip and sending plex remote to connect.
You can change your dns servers on the shield to 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1/1.0.0.1 or on your router to workaround dns rebind protection . If you have a specialized setup, there are ways to add an exception for plex.direct.
