Not sure why this was changed in the recent update but why put the close button in the bottom right when most users on a Windows OS are used to having the close button in the top right, currently where the full screen button is. It doesn’t make any sense and makes for a worse user interface.
I agree, this is extremely unconventional! I’ve tried switching the icons with Tampermonkey, but it’s far from perfect yet… I’ll try to share a TamperMonkey script if I’m happy with it, because the people who thought this was a good idea must have been drunk.
Changes: Bigger volume bar
Close button to top right
Set playback speed (remembered between videos)
Frame skip with SHIFT-, and SHIFT-. (only assuming 24fps)
Issues: Fullscreen icon now is in the middle top; couldn’t put it to bottom right
Tested with Chrome 60
Plex Web version 3.18.2
Plex Server version 1.7.5.4035

i really like your tampermonkey script i tried making changes to it with zero luck and was wondering if you might be willing to help me make it look more like this as much as the close button bothered me at first i get why they moved it. it’s more that they swapped the buttons so i was wondering if you could help me make one with all the buttons on the bottom.
I’ve spent couple of hours (yes) to get the fullscreen at the bottom too, and failing to do so. The problem is when you append the Fullscreen button to the bottom controls is that it will fail to execute when clicking it. It checks the parent container or something like that and because the parent is not the top controls anymore it fails. I’ve been fumbling around with it for too long and decided that double clicking the video is good enough. The misplacement of the close button was the most annoying thing for me… You can display none it so the top bar is clean, if you manage to find out how to do it, please share though
Agree on this completely! Please move the close/exit button from the bottom to the top - would make so much more sense. That could also make room for a longer volume bar
Hi, I’ve made some adjustments for the new Plex version (tested on 1.7.5.4035 server, 3.65.1 client)
Auto update for tampermonkey is not working for me, but you can replace the script with the code below.
I’ve removed some seekbar stuff that broke because of CSS classname changes… I’ve changed the video lookup from a classname lookup to a tag lookup, so it’s a bit more robust for later Plex changes.
your last update worked and seemed to fix the issues but now with the changes to the player again the speed control buttons have disappeared again is there anyway to make the speed controls be added on the new player
