Collection summaries gone after updating to new Plex Movie Agent

Continuing the discussion from Introducing the new Plex Movie agent:

Description of new Plex Movie agent indicates that it will not overwrite existing collection metadata, such as summaries. However, all of my collection summaries have disappeared after updating. Are the old summaries still somewhere in the data, which would allow me to copy them back? The summaries included information on how collections were created, sources considered, etc., which I didn’t keep outside of the Plex summaries I wrote.

What version of Plex Media Server did you have installed when you upgraded that library?
I experienced the same when upgrading my libraries once this was introduced in the beta update channel. The issue is supposed to have been fixed in PMS release 1.20.0.3181

FIXES:

  • (Library) Summaries from existing collections could be removed during a movie library upgrade (#11770)

I have to be honest I don’t remember what server version was in place at the time I upgraded (currently I’m on Version 1.20.1.3252). However, I seem to recall that I did not do the upgrade initially as I had concerns about it upgrading some information that I specifically had changed (e.g. posters, etc.). With that said, I update server versions relatively quickly, so I’m going to guess whatever the version was at the end of July or early to mid-August.

I didn’t do a full upgrade and refresh all metadata (i.e. I did not update my full library – I’ve only been refreshing select metadata on prior items occasionally).

It should be noted that now it is possible to type in a new summary, save it and it stays I place. I just have no way to get my old summary back (I made a different post on this subject as well). Also, I do regular backups of the shared media and Plex settings using Hyper Backup, if the information is still there there somewhere.
