Are Collections supported for music tracks? If possible, I would like full collection support for Tracks as a way for ad hoc organization/tagging of music. As a workaround, I can use moods/genres, but it’s not quite the same.
I noticed that in the Web App, when looking at an Album, I can open a Track’s 3-dots menu and select Add To → Collection. However, I can’t filter on track collection nor can I modify a track’s collections from the Edit → Tags pop-up (like you can with Artists or Movies).
My question is: Are Collections supposed to be supported for Tracks? If so, would it be possible to flesh out the existing support to allow for filtering and modifying collections from standard locations?
Collections can be used in filters while playlists cannot. For example, I could search for all tracks that are in both Collection A and Collection B.
As a workaround, I can use Genres/Moods which have the functionality I want, although I’m trying to apply more generic tags, not so much genres or moods.
The workaround is easy enough, so it’s not really a huge deal either way. I just wasn’t sure if music tracks intentionally didn’t support collections or if it was an oversight (since there are some places where it’s possible to add tracks to a collection, but you can’t filter or view them)
Interestingly, this seems somewhat well-supported in Plexamp. “Track Collections” shows in the Library and the advanced filters allow you to filter based on Track Collection. Although, there appears to be no way to add tracks to collections in the app.
So it feels like it’s well-supported in the underlying server, but both Plexamp and Plex Web only partially implement it in the UI.
The more I click around, the more it seems like the feature is there, just a couple of UI quirks that were tripping me up.

There’s no way to add a track to a collection from Now Playing in either. I can add to a Playlist, but not a Collection.
In Plexamp, I can use Track Collection as a filter. However, Plex Web only supports Artist/Album Collection as filters, it does not support Track Collection.
All that said, it would be nice if Web supported filtering by track collection and if I could add a track to a collection from Now Playing, but I think I can work around the current limitations easily enough. Thanks for the help!
