Server Version#: 1.19.3.2843
Player Version#: 2.18.1
I don’t know which version of server & player I had last weekend because I don’t track these things over time, both were updated during the week. Last weekend Collections worked perfectly.
In the AppleTV app, if I select movies, across the top I have search, Recommended, Library, Collections. Selecting movies shows all the movies. Selecting Collections USED TO show the collections and I’d have to go in to the collection to see what movies are in it.
Now, I get a list almost indistinguishable from the one I get when I select Movies up the top. Takes a hell of a lot of effort now to filter things down to the collection I want and only see the movies from that collection. An unworkable amount of effort. Makes collections useless.
Edit: To clarify, I’ve confirmed some of the individual movies shown when I select “collections” are not assigned any collections at all. The row below “Recommended” “Library” and “Collections” is filtering things incorrectly. It defaulted to “All” “Movies” by “Release Date”, the same thing that “Library” defaulted to.
To get to my collections I have to select “All” and scroll down to “Collection”, then select the collection I want from a list on the right hand side. It will then show me the contents of the selected collection. So it is possible, it’s just painful.
I just double checked this on my Apple TV 4K with Plex 2.18.1 and the current beta. I was n to able to reproduce this behavior. When I open a library and switch to the collections view, I see the posters of all my collections.
Does this behavior persist if you force-quit the app and start it again?
If it does… could you provide a pic of what you see? – sounds like your collections view is actually showing the regular library view?!
Because it was just me (ie, others couldn’t reproduce it), I deleted the app completely from the ATV and re-installed it. It’s now behaving as it should.
I quit out, and it’s back to acting up again. Back to the original problem I reported and looking like the two photos from my second post in this thread.
logging.zip (342.8 KB) Attached. I force quit the program then went through the same steps seen in the video, then went to Enable Log Download and grabbed this file.
I am experiencing the same issue. On my AppleTV 4k, if I choose COLLECTIONS on the top band, it still just shows movies. I am no longer able to browse my collections, something broke with the update.
Normally on my AppleTV 4K when I’m in my MOVIES folder, I can scroll to the top of the screen and choose collections, then browse my collections. Now it doesn’t come up.
So to be clear, up top the three options are:
RECOMMENDED - LIBRARY - COLLECTIONS
When I choose LIBRARY, I can browse every movie in that folder.
Now when I choose COLLECTIONS, it’s the same view that LIBRARY would give me, which is all of the files in that folder. It’s supposed to show the COLLECTIONS
I can’t reproduce it. What version is your server? Have you tried quitting app and relaunching (on home screen double tap the TV icon button then swipe right to Plex and swipe up to quit.)
PLEX Server Version: 4.34.3
OS - Windows 10 Pro
Clients: AppleTV 4K
Not sure what you mean by double-tapping the TV button, but I rebooted my AppleTV 4K and the problem still exists. Matter of a fact, the problem exists on ALL 5 of my AppleTV 4K’s. It just started last week… it worked on Sunday.
Interesting enough, collections still work on my iPhone, just not the AppleTV 4K’s.
I moved this thread into the post where you had already discussed this before.
As mentioned above… it’s a known issue and Plex is currently looking into it. I have no further information as for when it’ll be fixed…
My Plex client on my AppleTV updated to V7.0 (15650) and I can no longer reproduce the problem. Collections are again working as expected for me. Thankyou.
