I know you guys most probably cant get into details about it just yet but surely this deserves to be shouted from the rooftop (via your blog), if only to just let people know that this is happening and that there will eventually be an awesome new chromecast client coming soon.
Since when has Plex revealed something under development until it was actually ready to use or test? The devs keep things pretty close to the vest and don’t discuss their road map. Be patient and it will happen eventually.
It would be absolutely silly for them to not embrace (support) Chromecast as it's so clearly fit their model (server to host/stream, client to play). I really have no doubt and just purchased a lifetime subscription based on that belief. If I am wrong I just wasted $75 cause it's the only way I am interested in using Plex... Don't want a HTPC anymore and don't like that you can't fully control Roku (play to) with Plex...
I love the simplicity of the chromecast, and cannot wait to retire my iMito MX1 mini android computer, and start using my Chromecast for Plex, and not just netflix, and Youtube,
Everything I have read, indicates that it is Google holding up the ball on releasing the general update to allow 3rd party applications to cast to the Chromecast. When it was released, they indicated that it could be enabled in as little as 50 lines of code. I don;t know about the average developer, but 50 lines of code is less than the time it takes to drink a cup of coffee.
I got my first, of two, chromecasts today. I really hope to be able to test plex with it soon. Already very impressed with the little thing. It took me longer to wrangle the usb cable behind my entertainment center than it did to configure the chromecast!
Got my Chomecast in the mail today, for now I am just glad that google cast works via the chrome browser but I can't wait for plex to work something like youtube does, that would be sweet.
Plex, if you integrate your apps for IOS and Android with Chromecast's "airplay" type feature that would certainly push me to purchase a lifetime mebership to PlexPass. Just food for thought. I know, I know everyone else is asking for this too. Why do I mention it? Because the more of us that ask, the more likely you are to listen!
