Concerts library sorted by artist with auto meta

Hi there,

I have a couple of concerts mostly from dvd and blueray sources, my question is can I sort them somehow properly according to the artist.

I already tried creating a movie lib as well as an “other videos” lib, both fetch the metadata belonging to the concerts correctly, but then the lib becomes unclear and reading the lib as well as finding a video in there gets harder as the lib grows.

What I want to archieve is something like this:

Artist1

  • Concert1
  • Concert2
    Artist2
  • Concert1
  • Concert2

and still get the appropriate metadata from imdb or themoviedb.

Is there currently any possibilty to archieve this, or if not does someone know if this is maybe a planned feature?

Because currently the only solution I see is creating a series lib and name the concerts as series extras and manually add the metadata, but this is neither a clean way nor an easy an quick solution to add this type of content to plex.

Thanks in advance for your attention!

In a video library this is not possible.
Because Plex has not a ‘collection subfolder’ feature, which would allow you to collect all concerts from an artist under a common subfolder.
Also, metadata of concert DVDs are much much less often available on public metadata services.

I for now make do with a separate movie library which imports its meta data from Kodi-compatible .nfo files. http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1122252/#Comment_1122252

A second option (if you don’t rip Bonus content from the discs) would be to insert the concert videos into your music library. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/205568377-Adding-Local-Artist-and-Music-Videos

Thx for the response, I already thought about the second option, but I want to keep my concerts in a seperate library apart from my music and plex unfortunately requires at least one existing sound file inside the folder otherwise the video content is not recognized
