Connection Issues via Web Browser

Server Version#: 1.41.8.9834
Player Version#: 1.190.0.329-ea562b95

I can access my Plex server from a PC on the same local network, without any issues. However, on the same PC, if I try and access it via a web browser (Chrome), I get the:

"The server “Plex_Server” is unreachable. Make sure it’s running, double check your network, and try again.

I also get exactly the same issue from the Meta Quest 3 web browser. That’s on it’s own wi-fi network.

Any ideas?

Make sure your network type is Private.

DNS failure or DNS re-binding protection, you can change all your DNS entries to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

When you log into the app it is given a server address (long string).plex.direct, if the app is unable to resolve that to an ip then it is unreachable.

WiFi router often do ip isolation so you will have to disable it or move it to the same network as the Plex Server

Thanks for the quick response.

I’m not sure how you check whether the server is set to private? I’ve looked in the ‘Network’ settings area, but don’t see anything there like that. If you mean ‘Private’ on the PC (Windows), then this is already configured to ‘Private’ on that LAN settings for the network card.

With respect to the DNS, are you suggesting that I change the DNS settings on the Plex server and any other client I use to use 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1?

Actually, just changed the DNS settings on the Windows PC to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1, then launched Chrome and that worked!

It’s good that it worked, however it’s poor that DNS from my provider wouldn’t process DNS requests properly?
