Constant buffering and transcoding

Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: latest

-With high bitrate files it constantly buffers when disabling bitrate limit, like it lets the player run out of buffer to then start buffering again, very weird.

No, its not my network, other players like jellyfin dont have this issue.

-Using PGS subs most of the time causes constant buffers no matter what, independently of bitrate or video formats. I dont know why you release a feature that basically isnt usable, it is sad cause it would be really cool.

-Everything gets transcoded, its ■■■■■■■ insane when the only codec it should be transcoded is DTS essentially.

I created a topic a while ago about this and was given this answer: https://forums.plex.tv/t/ac-3-truehd-and-vc-1-playback-on-samsung/808233/2

It sounds like bullshit to me, tbf jellyfin does also have some issues with this but for example it doesnt ever transcode AC3 or VC-1, every device on the market supports ac3, there is literally no excuse for plex to transcode it in any situation. Ideally it should only transcode DTS, pretty plain and simple the way i see it. If it is true that 2021 have issues with codec detection maybe just create a fixed profile for them, only DTS should get transcoded and maybe also AVC/x264 10bit.

Anyway, hope buffering gets fixed cause its unusable and tbh it has been like this for a long while, the crazy part is the app being featured on tizen.

EDIT: was taking a look around the forum and seems like i was about right, screenshot from another user complaining about similar things:

its literally a last gen model also transcoding an audio codec it shouldnt be transcoding, are you gonna blame again this specific years model, just like you did when 2021 models were around?

I’m just about to post with a similar problem.
I’m trying to send some home videos to my Hisense TV, but having big buffer problems.
A bit of research has found that most ethernet ports on smart TVs are restricted to 100Mbps, which should be fine for compressed 4K movies (e.g. for Netflix), but higher bit rates create buffering.
I bought a Cable Matters USB 3.0 to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, but Plex or the TV doesn’t accept the data via the USB port. I know the USB ports are only 2.0, but they should still be faster than the throttled ethernet port.
