Control SABnzbd from Plex

That worked... Thanks. I have another question... Why will this not work if it is placed in the plugin folder for programs? That seems like the best place for it to be located in the menus to me seeing as SAB is an application that can download more than videos. I tried it in the program plugins folder but IMDB info and thumbs will not work. Sorry to seem so difficult, I just like to be organized.

Looks to be a Plex/XBMC bug, local paths work fine but external do not when the plugin in launched as a Program Pliugin. I'll have a further look tomorrow and submit a bug report.

Just to make sure: theres no way to stream these files as they download, correct? It looks like I can play individual rar files in VLC, but it wont traverse to the next one… Bintube is windows only and nzbsreamer seems to be pretty alphatastic, but it would be amazing to have sabnzbd integration, be able to select a report, then start streaming it as it downloads. On a decent connection, you could stream a 720p rip as it comes down (4.5gb @ 640k = 117min), but definitely any divx release.

Not sure if this would be anything that could integrate into the plugin, or would be a plex feature request

switch , is there anyway to get IMDB info working without newzbin ( ie , with nzbs.org site ) ?

Thanks for a great plugin! Im having issues with getting IMDB-information. I do get ratings and poster, but no description. (I have checked both imdb-boxes in settings)

I am having problems getting the newest version to work. I have an older version that works, but the new one seems to need the api key from sabnzb+ (I can see sabnzb+ complaining about a 3rd party program needing the key). but there is nowhere to put it in the settings. newzbin lists dont work either…

I don’t know where to look for the logs, to see what was happening. any ideas?

thanks.

I have the same problem. I tried looking into the different python (settings.py / default.py) files for clues as to where the api-key could be defined but no luck..
anyone know how this can be implemented?

edit: I think the reason I got these warnings is that I hadn't entered nzbmatrix credentials yet for my RSS feeds. so far no more warnings....

A question for those using plex and sabnzbd on the same machine. I have Plex and SABnzbd running on the same Macmini (last model 2,53GHz and 4GB of RAM). My files are stored on my 1To Time Capsule, which hosts my home network.

I access those files also from my iMac, without sharing the Plex database.

I encounter very slow playback on the Mini when SABnzbd is downloading files (SABnzbd 0.5.6 beta with 20 connections at a total of 1.4MB), while playing from the iMac does not encounter any problem. I need to pause downloading when I use Plex on the Mini.

Do you think the Mini is not enough strong to handle such traffic?

I have an average downstream usenet connection of 2,5MB/s. this doesn't interfere with plex at all. the only time I notice SABnzbd getting in the way of plex, is when all this parring and unrarring is going on. but I that is to be expected, naturally.

I added my API key from NZBMatrix, but it seems not working. Any help about that?

Restarting my Mini makes it working.
I also have many troubles with my Time Capsule to access the Mini connected through 802.11n from my iMac connected through 802.11g (same network), which also requires to restart it.

I think I'm going to leave the Mac world and come back to PC... B)

Back to topic; any development on a new version?

so you made an RSS feed and added your NZBmatrix API key, right?
like so:

it's difficult to determine what exactly is wrong here. in my household I have a similar set-up with N and G clients intertwined through a time capsule and never experienced any connection issues to any client. my media however is attached through firewire to the mini. are you streaming your plex content wirelessly or over ethernet?

edit: I have to admit though I reverted back to SABnzbd 0.4.12 to get rid of the warnings altogether. I don't think the nabmatrix is fully compatible with it yet..

Nope. I just entered my NZBMatrix key in the index preferences of sabnzbd.

No, I have no wires at home, except between my ISP box and the TC (Time Capsule). I can wake my mini from my iMac but when this latter is connected through 802.11g, it happens (frequently) that I cannot access the mini (usually in N) (http, ssh, afp, ...).

You're talking about the time out warnings? I think this has been solved in the latest beta of SABnzbd (0.5.6 beta).

You're right, we are off topic. Sorry for that.

I'm not sure what you mean by that?

I don't think wake on (w)LAN works well if you're using your TC in [bridged mode](http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3774).

no, I meant the 3rd party program needing the API key. I cannot determine which 3rd party program it is. I suspect growl, but I don't know how to add an API key into growl or any other program.

sorry ;)

I'm talking about what you can see in the attached figure.
And the API key I'm talking about is the NZBmatrix's one, not the SABnzbd one ;)

My TC hosts the network, it is used as router.

How is your mini connected to the network? Mine uses wireless to download and wireless to read 720p and 1080p files from the NAS. And I think that its card is not able to download so much stream... unless yours is also connected through wireless.

mine uses wireless to download, but my movies are played from a drobo connected through firewire. I suppose streaming 1080p wirelessly is really pushing the limits of wireless connectivity.

Actually, playing HD files only is not a problem, but downloading while playing such a file reaches, as you say, the limits of the mini wireless. However, the Time Capsule can handle such a traffic.

Hi

Thanks for great plugin. I do however have a problem :frowning:

I can fine fetch records from newzbin but can not queue them in sabnzbd.

It works fine with other sources than newzbin, which is kind of strange.

The log says ERROR: Unable to find host: video

Please help

I couldn’t get along with SABNZB, probably because I had already started using something else to do the same job.

As nice as it is to try and combine everything into one box, I find a 2Ghz Mac-Mini borderline anyway without any dedicated GPU or Plex support for Broadcom HD cards without starting to put downloading, par fixing and unraring overhead onto the poor box.

I use a program called SpearNZB which hasn’t been developed that long and is working really well for me. I have it running permanently on my general use iMac machine, I stuck it at the end of my “Spaces” pages, so it just sits out of the way, finding the latest TV shows as soon as they appear. It automatically downloads, parfixes, unrar’s, renames and drops them in my Plex Library folders. It even emails me to tell me what new episodes have been added

I had some issues when I try to use it to download NZB’s that I have provided, particularly large ones with several episodes in, but I cannot fault it for downloading individual episodes.

I have about 30 TV shows setup to auto download at the moment and its great, I get up on a Wednesday morning to find an email saying the latest episode of Lost was downloaded in the early hours of the morning.

Sure enough, when I check Plex, the episode is sat there waiting to be played which is pretty awesome when its only been aired a few hours earlier in the USA!

So this is like a Season Pass / Series Link for Plex, only better if your in the UK, because Lost and Flash Forward are the only shows that air several days after the USA, most imported shows are 3+ months behind!

For example, the Mentalist Season 2 has only just started airing in the UK, where-as it started last September in the USA.

We had to cancel most of our season passes on the Tivo because only recording live tv and relying on the UK schedules, it was recording stuff we already have archived on Plex now and in most cases already watched
