Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156Plex Media Server Logs_2020-01-02_17-48-47.zip (5.1 MB)
Player Version#:

Recently Plex docker has stopped play some of my files on Unraid. I get this message “Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error.” If I re analyze it does not fix they have always worked in the past. I have restored my Plex from a backup but have the same issue.
Any thoughts?

Adam

Ok so I rolled back to version 1.18.2.2058 and analyze my files that don’t play and it makes them work again. Is this a known issue with 1.18.3.2156?

What I am seeing is the scanning agent, when it scans the media you are watching, it causes the media to terminate with that message. I came to see if anyone else was having that issue, but you say rollback fixes it. I will try that.

How long have you been having the issue? You have to analyze all your media as mentioned above. Seems like maybe its a knows issue. Let me know how you make out.

Very weird they went back to not working!

Edit: I was wrong I fixed it

OK, so rolled back. I tried to delete the transcode dir, the codecs dir (letting it rebuild itself on start-up) and restore the DB itself back to the oldest copy I have (while plex isn’t running). I cycled my modem, security gateway, and router. Then rebooted the plex server again for good measure.
Out of all that, it appears to be working. I even felt gutsy and updated back to the newer version.

Figured I would post back. I hate finding my issue and non one ever responding to the fix.

So, like you, it went back to not working. It has nothing to do with scanning for media now, though. It’s every 19 mins and X secs when playing.
I tried going back to 1.14 before metrics, and it made it happen less often, but still an issue. In the end I need it back on the newest version because it’s clear this is an us issue and not a dev issue. Otherwise there would be 30 threads on this.

Pretty much I ran the “repair a corrupted db commands”. Rebooted, then updated back to the current version. I am going to let it run and see, but at this point, if it’s not the fix. I just reload from scratch and let it redownload all the metadata for 40TB worth of crap.

Sorry for the non reply ended up working all weekend. So after doing some reading and talking to others my issue was that I had a couple random appdata files on the array and not on my cache drive. The weird part is my Unraid has been running fine like this for years. I added a cache drive to the array years after not having one. Not sure if you are running if you are running Unraid? If you are make sure no appdata folders or files exsist on the array. Be sure to set the appdata share to cache only. Then disable docker and run the mover. For some reason my plex was still creating some appdata on my array. So changed docker appdata paths from /mnt/user/… to /mnt/cache/… . I removed empty appdata directories of the array enabled docker with the nw appdata mappings and so far so good. Again sorry about the late reply!

Well, not my issue and I’m done. Just reloading from scratch.
