Hi

I’ve not been unable to update to the latest server versions as the dashboard refuses to load. So have checked for database corruptions and got the following below. I did run a repair as per instructions but Plex Server wouldn’t then open at all (so restored working version of Plex from backup). Can someone please advise what the error below is? Thanks.

Error: database disk image is malformed

The error is a corrupt database.

If you can’t repair the current database file, then try to repair one of the backup versions:

Thanks for the reply.

The latest backup is from 2016. Does that mean if I restore/repair that, I will lose my library and viewing history for anything added/viewed from that date forwards? Thanks.

Ouch.
Did you put a custom path into " Backup directory" under
Settings - Server - Schedules Tasks - ‘Show Advanced’?
Because the database backup will fail silently if the path is invalid.

Considering the backup is over 2 years old, it is probably not a good idea to use it.

But didn’t you say above you restored a backup and it is working again?

Hi.

The backup path is the default directory.

I restored a backup from the Time Machine backup of the current database.

There is a file from Oct 2018 called com.plexapp.plugins.library.blobs.db2018. Is that a backup?

Unfortunately not.
Only the files named like com.plexapp.plugins.library.db-2014-04-25 are the proper ones.
