CPU at 100% - OS X High Sierra (MacBook Pro Mid 2014)

Hello Guys,

I don’t know why but very often when I open the Plex Media Player the Fan instantly begins to spin very loud. When I start to watch something it often stops but then begins again when I just browse my Library. Why is that? Is it normal? What I also noticed is that the Player is scanning the TV Section. But since Plex starts to scan the TV Section from it’s own I can’t really do much. but just wait it out and letting my Mac heat up, lol

As seen in the Activity Center Plex Player uses around 60% and the QTWebEngineProcess around 50%.

Strangely it doesn’t happen every time…

Thanks!

Kind Regards,

mmaeder

Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 i5, same problem. CPU usage through the roo whenever PMS is open.

Same thing happening here for me, MacBook Pro Late 2013 i7.

Hiding the app reduces the CPU usage of both Plex Media Player and QtWebEngineProcess back down to normal levels, but it goes back up as soon as the app’s visible.

Same issue here.
