Essentially my suggestion is to create a feature for TV shows that allows you to watch your shows in the correct order when watching TV shows that have crossover episodes with other shows.
For example this could be used to watch the DC universe shows from their different starting points up to the crossover episodes then allow you to watch the individual shows in between crossovers in a kind of smart playlist that would mean that you are up to date on the content in the correct order.
This would apply to numerous shows such as JAG + NCIS + NCIS LA + NCIS NO + Hawaii 5-0 + MacGyver + Magnum P.I. + Scorpion, or Law & Order + SVU + Chicago PD/FD/Med series of shows that cross over into each others and build storylines. These are just a few of the US shows that do this and I believe there are many more.
This would mean you could select a bunch of shows in a TV collection of sorts and then watch everything in the correct order with the next show being suggested not necessarily being the next episode of the same show but could be the next episode in the collection that you need to watch to stay in sync and not miss content or plot points etc.
