Would be cool if plex had a “TV Guide” much like they do now for their live TV, but have it randomly generate channels using the customers existing media. And have it display ads to the user just like normal TV, but split a % of the payments with the customers. Would generate new income for Plex and the user wouldn’t mind ads as much(can make it disabled as well). Could even make it where the customer can open the ad companies website to buy their product. This would be an affiliate purchase, making another income stream to the Plex team(and customer?)
There’s a number of suggestions around creating some random or curated stations based on content from various sources (e.g. PseudoTV). What I don’t get is why you’d want that content to be artificially interrupted by ads.
If this is about making money from Plex (by showing ads to streams on shared media) – keep in mind that Plex is specifically about non-commercial use (see terms of service)
