I watch a lot of Japanese superhero shows like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. Every year, when a new season starts, it’s essentially a brand new show: new title, new theme song, new cast, etc. Right now in PLEX, if I go to one of these shows, I can see all of the seasons I have with their season-specific cover art, but that’s where the differentiation ends.
I would love to be able to add a custom name to each season, so that Season 26 of Kamen Rider would be listed in PLEX as “Kamen Rider Ghost.” I would also love to be able to drop an MP3 of the season’s theme song into the folder and have PLEX recognize that as well and play it when I select that specific season.
I realize that this is a specific use case; most shows don’t have names for specific seasons. But I do see it a lot with Japanese action shows, as well as anime. I also realize that services like TVDB don’t necessarily track season specific names, but just having the fields and support in PLEX would be enough for me to enter information manually.
