Custom Tags to allow grouping of multiple shows on a single topic

I tried this once and even explained better but not a single person caught my remark and kept going to collections or smart collections anyway.

How hard is it to have a custom tag field that we control? I’m already having to go back and correct all my ABC News 20/20 episodes after finding IMDB/TVDB/TRAKT all reference bad data. Seasons are off by 1 which downloads the wrong metadata.

A custom tag would be so easy to add. I’ve thrown stuff together in SQL and adjusted front-ends to display to users. It’s not hard. And we can’t count on IMDB to be correct.

Collections would come after I have episodes properly tagged. I want some control over my content that doesn’t line up with “Writers” or “Directors” as we see on our screens now. I’ve tried hijacking a tag for my purposes but that didn’t work out well.

The Collections tag isn’t available at the episode level. Shows like ABC News 20/20 will cover different subjects at each episode. The Collections tag for these shows would be News Magazines but drilling down, you run into different topics being covered and no way to group similar programs together.

Episodes don’t have a collection tag of their own… however you can still assign them to episode collections using the Add to context menu.
