Daily Automatic Library Updates

Hello.

I would like my Plex server to update on the daily. I notice two options that concern this, but I’m not sure what the merits are of using just one or both at the same time.

  1. Library: “Update my library periodically: library update interval” set to “Daily”
  2. Scheduled Tasks: “Update all libraries during maintenance”

If I understand correctly, option #1 will update the libraries every 24 hours based on when the Plex server was started. Option #2 will update the libraries during maintenance (between 0200 - 0500 for me).

If I enable both options, does that mean that my libraries will update potentially twice in a day?
Or do I have to enable both options to get a daily update, meaning if only one is checked it will not update without the other option.

The two options are separate. Your server would update twice a day if you have them both enabled

Excellent! Thank you for clarifying BigWheel. To complete the thread, I have unchecked option #1, and checked option #2. This way I figure the updates will happen at a controlled time range of 0200-0500.
