Hi, does anyone else have issues with the dashboard, local or remote, freezing up their browsers? I have persistent freezing on google chrome windows 10 and chrome and safari for Mac. It renders the dashboard un-usable and I get a little warning such as:
The second issue I now have is that the dash board now displays users watching items and they remain there once they have stopped viewing, just adding up… including myself in home or via the mobile apps.
In my experience, Chrome uses a significant portion of system memory. With about 15 tabs and 2 Plex Web sessions open, my machines see between 3GB - 4GB memory usage for Chrome alone.
Have you checked all your systems to ensure that you have enough memory?
Thanks for the reply Luke, My Mac had 24gb and my windows machine has 32gb so i dont think it was a issue with available memory on the machines… it was also happening with safari, would happen with 1 tab open… also doesnt account for the fact that the now playing list would continue to grow regardless if you stopped watching anything… im now using the latest version of plex, as of today, im not at home just now but i think it is now 1.15.3…
Nope, tried that, once you click stop playback, if it hadnt frozen by then, would freeze the tab or leave the item on screen. If you manage to click stop playback you couldnt click it a second time…
Do you have another computer that you could use for an additional install of Plex Server? Only need to give this a few files to test with.
I always like to test bugs like this on a fresh system, separate from your main server. If you can replicate the issue on a fresh system, then something is amiss. Also on the new system, use an older version of Plex Server. I’ve discovered many issues were resolved by upgrading to new versions at a lower pace.
I have another server on an i3 nuc, running windows 10 with 8gb ram which i use for direct play in the house. My Synology server i use for remote play and family connecting to watch remotely. loading the dashboard from that i3 also does the same. Just freezes up the tab until you close it… its running the same version 1.15.3… its not such a problem for me as i only use the i3 in home so no real need to view the dashboard…
This is odd behavior for sure. I’ve never ran Windows 10 as a server before. All of my servers run Linux.
I’d recommend checking out Tautulli - it is an open-source dashboard app that you can install and run side-by-side of Plex server! This is a way better dashboard than the built-in one. All of the stats from Tautulli are really detailed so you can geek out to everything!
