Nothing has changed since I last commented, so uninstalling or re-installing wouldn’t make a difference.
I assume @kevindd992002 is referring to this comment;
Yeah. I just want you to acknowledge thst there is a problem with the deployment, which you aren’t really doing for the last few responses you gave.
I am but he already knows that there is an issue. It’s a hit and miss. Some of my clients with Android devices have it, some don’t.
Not sure if others have reported this yet but on my 2019 shield I have it set to auto. 9/10 it’s fine, but that 1/10, it will transcode to a random Bitrate and pop up saying I should switch to original.
ive seen this on 4K/DV content and on basic 1080p content too.
This happens quite often for me on both my fire sticks, it’ll play then a few seconds after i get the prompt to switch to a higher quality.
It’s like it’s failing to detect the bandwidth before it starts playing
Casting my vote for this. Having to explain to non-savvy users why they should change their default stream quality to default is something that shouldn’t be necessary. More administrative capabilities (including setting the default stream quality for users) should be implemented
This won’t happen. Because according to Plex your users are not your users, they are Plex’ users.
Been a couple months, curious if you’re able to give any updates regarding this feature being rolled out?
i added someone to my plex server and they are streaming 4k down to 480p. they have the internet speed and device power to do 4k but here we are
I don’t have anything further that I can share at this time, but work is continuing on this for other clients.
We are nearing the 4 year mark, one more and this bug could have its master degree.
This would be so funny if it was not so sad.
Will there by any updates going forward about when clients are gaining support?
@DaveBinM
This would be a little less painful if Roku clients didn’t somehow revert to the default setting occasionally. Any idea why that happens?
I no longer work for Plex, so I’m afraid I can’t really be of much help here going forward.
With recent layoff I fear that this feature is going to get set aside for more profitable features.
Oops, that’s awkward.
Thanks for letting us know. Hope it worked out for you.
Ohh ■■■■. Do you know anyone that can take over though?
What happens with this now, your guess is as good as mine, I’m afraid.
