Why is adult content available on a fresh install of Plex. My kids tablet has reinstalled plex and sign out of my plex server and defaulted to the default start up and is showing content not suitable for children.
This should not be possible. I do not what all the free movies unless I want to opt in.
Can this be looked into please. As now I am unable to use plex for my kids tablet as. As by default it has unsuitable content.
In the old days of plex i controlled all the content and thats how it should be.
Do your kids have a managed account or an account of their own?
A managed user should generally not be able to sign out of Plex. From what I’ve seen, managed users can get to the user switching screen but not actually sign out (that requires the Plex Home admin).
If your kids are able to uninstall the app itself, this will open some bigger issues beyond what Plex is able to control. On most devices, uninstalling apps on a mobile client will also delete all settings. So if the app is being re-installed, Plex knows nothing of your setup, previous configuration or the restrictions you would like to apply for your kids. Unless your kids have a dedicated „regular“ Plex account, your kids won’t be able to access your server (that’ll require the Plex Home admin to sign in first) — however as you correctly pointed out they will get Plex to show as an „empty slate“ and including all the content Plex is offering without requiring a user to be signed in.
TL;DR: you can only prevent this by blocking your kids from installing apps on their own
The kids all have managed account. when logged in. That is not an issue.
The issue I have is the default app has no content restrictions. So as default the content is not suitable for children.
For whatever reason the app has update and logged out of my account. its not the first time ( I have 3 tablets for my kids) Not sure if it is a amazon fire issue.
But I think the app should have no content on fresh install and the app should require a log in (its free anyway) to add extra content. Instead of it all on by default.
It was always that way in the past and extremely safe. With no content.
Perhaps you can put it forward as a concern from a parent with 3 young girls.
I am a long time plex pass user and I don’t want to have to change my media server.
