I’m about to try this tutorial (Moving PMS 'Library') but I see a warning to avoid using /media but that’s where my available space is i.e. /media/pi/Storage on my Pi 4 - is this warning only for immediately under the media dir or does it include subfolders like I’ve got?
There are several ways to limit the amount of storage Plex uses.
One thing most don’t realize is that thumbnail image generation and storage (which takes up the bulk of the space) can be turned off if not used.
The driving factor here is the number of indexed video files and knowing each chapter index file takes a block of space (these can be turned off if you don’t want/ use)
All said and done, if you keep it lean (metadata and posters only), you can live quite comfortably in 16 GB.
For example, I have 111,577 indexed video files (combination of work + personal).
In total, the entire Plex “Library” diredtory utilizes 45 GB.
If I were to make it live in 20 GB of space:
no more than ~30,000 indexed video files. If you have photos & music, keep closer to 25,000-ish total.
Chapter thumbnails and Index images turned off (in each Library’s Advanced settings)
