I have a 4k chromebook, but can’t seem to find a way to direct play or direct stream my 4k content. All my movies are HEVC .MKVs. Plex always chooses to transcode them to x264 4k instead, which is very resource intensive. I have tried it in the browser with the web player, but have been told that it wont work as chrome does not support x265. So I downloaded the plex app via the play store. I get the exact same results in the app. Actually, I get worse results in the app as, for some unknown reason I can hear the background music and sound effects but abolutely no voices. Like it is playing in surround sound and trying to send the voices through a center channel that doesn’t exist.
I am at home, so my chromebook and server are on the same network. I checked the app settings, and the home streaming is set to max. Is there any way to do this on a chromebook?
