Please add directplay of AV1 encoded files to xbox plex app
Is this possible? I figured Microsoft would not “allow” AV1 codec on Xbox because, well… they don’t care. (Despite probable hardware GPU support. And their free AV1 “extension” via Windows Store. Does AV1 play via YouTube on Xbox?)
If Microsoft did care to support AV1 on Xbox, that would make it perhaps the most capable Plex device (I believe only Roku Ultra plays AV1 and UHD, Google Chromecast only FHD).
Looks indeed like a platform restriction.
